MADPANDA MOTORSPORT TAKES DOUBLE PODIUM IN MONZA

Madpanda Motorsport ends the first season of the Fanatec GT World 2023 with a second place in the Silver Cup and a double victory in Fanatec SRO Esports.

The first race weekend was a successful one for the Spanish team, which did a great job on several levels. It all started on Friday with the unveiling of the new livery, which received a very warm welcome. On Saturday, two practice sessions were scheduled and the team managed to collect a lot of data for the qualifying session. The day ended well with Alexey Nesov winning the overall and class race at Fanatec Esports.

Sunday morning was an eventful one. Indeed, the last qualifying session was cancelled due to continuous power cuts in the paddock. As stated in the official regulations, the starting grid was established on the basis of the first two qualifying sessions. Starting then from sixth position, Magnus Gustavsen made a good start among 54 other cars. He managed to keep Sakura in good conditions, avoiding crashes. Alexey Nesov made a very good second stint to bring the car back to third position. Ezequiel Companc finished the race fighting for second place throughout all his stint.

After great battles and thanks to the good pitstops made by the Madpanda crew, the n•90 Mercedes AMG drivers reached the second step of the podium. In addition, they also collected five extra points in the Esports race, which puts them in second place in the Silver championship standings, two points behind the leaders.

The next race will be the season opener of the Sprint championship. It will be held at Brands Hatch, UK on May 13-14.

Magnus Gustavsen, driver: "I am very happy to finish second in my GT3 and FGTWC debut. All the team did a great job. The first stint was exciting and fun, and I really enjoyed the race weekend. Thanks to my teammates and the team for a great job! Now we will focus on the next race and make sure we improve even more".

Alexey Nesov, driver: "Great start to the season for us with P2 in the race and P1 in the overall Esport competition. After a not so easy qualifying, we did a good job fighting in the pack and keeping the car safe, which resulted in a good result. I want to thank the whole team for their incredible work and I look forward to seeing you at Paul Ricard"

Ezequiel Companc, team principal and driver: "It was a great result for the whole team. Having two rookie drivers to the series and finishing 2nd Silver on our first race is a really positive start to the year. Both our drivers showed great maturity, and the engineers & mechanics made great strategy calls and pitstops. We keep building up from this year's starting point, working hard to come stronger to the next events. Happy for our fans as well, with who we will celebrate this successful weekend together!”
