Madpanda Motorsport secures podium finish at Paul Ricard

The first Endurance race of the season in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe showcased the team’s resilience and determination to fight for great results during the season, starting the year with a podium finish in the Silver Cup.

Qualifying proved to be a test of skill and adaptability as difficult conditions and red flags disrupted the session. However, the team demonstrated a strong performance by clinching the pole position in category for the 3h race.

The race itself was not without its hurdles, as early contact with another car caused damage to the front of the vehicle, leading to a loss of positions. But thanks to the whole team battling back tirelessly, Sakura managed to cross the finish line in an impressive third position in category and secure our first podium of the season.

The team’s intense winter preparations paid off, as the efforts of the pit crew and the engineering team played an essential role in Madpanda’s strong performance throughout all the weekend, as for the car preparation, strategy and pitstops were flawless.

It was amazing to meet once again our fans in the French circuit, where they got to admire Sakura’s astonishing new dress, and meet with our Panda mascot at the autograph session. We thank you once again for our support, and we dedicate this podium finish to all of you, who always give us your unconditional support.

Ezequiel Companc, team principal and driver: “We had a very good weekend with the pole position in Qualifying and managing to finish in the podium after some early contacts. It was great to share the car again with Patrick, who did an amazing job all weekend. Very happy with how the team worked all weekend, being a key factor to the team arriving on the podium. We keep working hard and looking forward to the next event already!”

Patrick Assenheimer, driver: “It’s always nice to start the season on the podium. For sure when you start from pole you want to finish first. But after the initial troubles I want to emphasize my gratitude to all the team for their mega job on the pit-stops which helped on the strong recovery. In the end, we take the positives and build from here for the next endurance event, which is the biggest race of the season, the 100th anniversary of the Spa 24h!”

Looking ahead, we eager the next challenge, the first Sprint Race at Brands Hatch, where we aim to build on the achievements and continue our pursuit to excellence in motorsport.
