DOUBLE PODIUM IN MISANO!
The second round of the Fanatec GT World Sprint Cup was a solid weekend for Madpanda Motorsport. Jesse Salmenautio and Ezequiel Companc finished their two 1-hour races at second and third places in class, under extreme heat conditions.
The Pandas' Italian weekend was strong from the start. Indeed, right from the practice sessions, the team had a very good pace. After good qualifying sessions, Ezequiel Companc and Jesse Salmenautio did strong stints and fought some great battles. Without forgetting the Panda crew, who once again showed its strength in the pitstops as well as in the strategic side.
The opening race of the weekend showcased a strong performance by the Mercedes AMG n°90 who secured second-place and valuable points. In Sunday's race, despite starting from fifth in class, the skilled panda drivers mounted a great comeback to third place, narrowly missing second place by 1.5 seconds.
In the Silver Sprint championship, the Spanish crew stands in fourth place after two meetings, not far from the Top 3. In the combined one, Madpanda Motorsport is third, 0.5 points behind the second place. The team returns now to its workshop in Barcelona to prepare the car for the penultimate round of the Fanatec GT World Endurance Cup, to be held on 28-30 July on the Nürburgring F1 circuit.
Jesse Salmenautio, driver: "Mega weekend in Misano getting podium in both races. It was extremely tough having to race at 110% all stints with a temperature of degrees inside the car but we managed everything well and finished with two podiums".
Ezequiel Companc, driver and team principal: “Solid weekend in Misano! Jesse, the crew and the engineers did a mega job. Scoring three podiums in four sprint races is an encouraging result. We keep working to arrive on the top spot of the podium next time! Thank you to all the fans that came to support us under this crazy heat! Focus on Nürburgring.”
